I was going thru my scrapbook of favorite magazine clippings over the weekend & thought I would share some of my favorite ones! Some of these are very old & some relatively new but they all have the look & feel I love. My idea book of scraps & snippets from favorite decorating mags gives me inspiration & lets me daydream a bit & reminds me that even beautiful rooms can look lived in & cozy. Our own home is well lived in even though it's decorated in very light colors. I have white cotton duck slipcovers on most of my couches & chairs & once a month they get popped in the wash with some ocyclean or bleach & come out perfectly spotless. My family can put their feet up & be comfortable without having to worry about stains & dirt. Flea market finds & re-furbished pieces are all a part of our home with their dings & their scratches that make them look very well loved & vintage. A dear friend once gave me the best compliment I could ever get when she said "There is a feeling I get when I walk thru your door, that this is a beautiful but well lived in home that just hugs you when you enter." She couldn't have said anything nicer & she knows who she is & what that meant to me~xo
This porch is almost identical to my great great aunt Tillie's. It looked this way 40 years ag0!

Wow, nice collection, I do the same thing, I love magazines they really inspire! Loved the photos:) hugs, Kim

Hi Chris ~ loved this post and I found it very interesting that a lot of your favorite pics are a lot of my favorite pics from magazines. We must have all the same issues! Hope you are well! I am doing my Christmas decorating tonight! (*_*) ~Stacy~

I do the same thing too. I have some pix in my file from 20+ years ago and there is still something that attracts me to them; the classic style I guess. I go thru them every few months or so and daydream about them and then put them away for another rainy day.

Seems this is a common thread we all share... I too do the same... ideas for the home... ideas for inspiration... I though have kept a lot of magazines... which I have been going through and hard as it may seem letting some of them go... I imagine if I counted the amount of money I spent on magazines I could be somewhere close to a millionaire !!
Loved the photo on your home page of the mantel and your pics of your home... oh my ... beautiful!!
I do hope that cold goes away and you get to feeling better... get some rest... cx soup .... tough being laid up with a cold on top of the knee...

What wonderful inspirational photos! I have wanted to have slip covers made for my sofa, chair and ottoman, but don't know where to go. I have called upholstery companies in my phone book but they just upholster and don't make slip covers. Do you have any suggestions?

Penny

Chris,
Sorry I couldn't find your personal e-mail address; I thought you would like to know that my MIL passed away this morning. It is such a relief that she went without too much suffering. Just last week she was still in her own home living alone and now she is at peace and with Tony once again.

Chris, I'm right there with you and everyone else.....I save lots of clippings from my favorite magazines, as well. My poor husband doesn't understand it but I guess he's gotten used to it. I'm curious as to where you get your slipcovers?? Do you have them made when you buy your furniture or do you have someone (you?) make them for you? I bought a slipcovered couch a couple of years ago and the slipcover shrunk!! Talk about a struggle getting it back on the couch!! I consider that my weekly workout!
I, however, have to wash mine more frequently since we have 5 "adorable" dogs living in the house!! Can't wait to see
