The hunt for kitchen table happiness........

 
I love my kitchen-For most of us it is truly the heart of the home. For me, being Italian, loving good food & wanting to feed everyone the minute they walk thru the door, it is the most important space  in our home I  like to keep up to date & the ONLY place that my hubby doesn't mind spending money in. I've got my granite, my stainless steel, my limestone tile on the floor, my big Island smack in the middle of the kitchen & a pretty little jennair gas cooktop that I adore smack in the middle of the Island.(got that for my anniversary in september. I don't go for the jewelry-give me a gas stovetop anyday!) We talked about ripping the kitchen apart & putting in a  wolfe stove(an aga is my dream but not so sure hubby will dole out the cash for that pricey piece) but I'm saving that for our next house. At this stage of or life we really don't know how much longer we will stay here. I'm always itchy to move-hubby is more sentimental about the house we raised our kids in. I really do love my kitchen just as it is however, I am so ready to move my Domain kitchen table & chairs (remember Domain? God I loved that store!) out & ready to move a new/old farm table in. I have some favorites. My absolute favorite is the one on the restoration hardware site. My friend Peggy bought this last year & it is stunning in her home. Big chunky legs & the wood made out of  100 year old wood from some old barn or other structure in Britain. GORGEOUS with her mercury glass candles & old lantern on it. It's huge so you have to have the room.

  These last two pics are from pottery barn. I just bought my bazzillionth coir rug from there. I love these rugs. They go everywhere!

 

I really love this light fixture. My taste has changed so much this past year. There is no more fufu in my home (well the office is still pretty romantic & I do love it in there) I love white walls,Really old grain sacks, lots more black & gray in accent pieces, tons of linen ( I so love the texture & warmth it brings to any decor)Old bank deposit bags used for pillows & slipcovers & an uncomplicated look in furniture. Where I live in New England the look is totally traditional. I've been in some gorgeous homes here only to say to myself "It looks like they went to a furniture store & bought the whole room so it matches!" There is so much more personality & warmth it seems to me, in a home that is decorated with thingss that have some history to them & where you buy what you love not what matches. The house is slowly evolving & the hunt for a new/old kitchen table continues....Have a wonderful week blog friends. While ordering a birthday present for a dear friend from mackenzie-childs  I was told that I'd get free shipping for orders over 200 dollars. It was a no brainer-of course I needed this rug for the kitchen!

 
It's always so much fun decorating for the holidays, but even more importantly, celebrating with good food, family & friends. We will be hosting our annual Italian Christmas Eve dinner for 36 (sit down-only I'm the one that never sits-lol!) & enjoying every minute of being together. Work work work~fun work though........

 
It's finally here! The annual Mangiacotti Chistmas barn sale I manage will be in full swing tomorrow staring at 10:00  & ending sunday! The next 4 days will be incredibly busy as we have sent out two thousand invitations & expect approx 400 hundred tomorrow! Working 10 hour days getting ready for this has been a challenge but the outcome is always so sweet. These photos show the fruits of our labor the past two months. I hope my bad knees don't scream at me tomorrow night at 10:00-pass the advil please! Have a wonderful rest of the week & think of me crawling towards my bed by 10:30 tomorrow night! lol! xoxo

Off To Florida........

 
Off to Florida tomorrow for my brother's wedding on Marco Island this weekend. The whole family will be together for some serious fun. Please say a prayer that our 8 month old grandaughter doesn't torture us all on the plane. She doesn't like to sit still that long-lol! Have a wonderful rest of the week & a wonderful weekend! :) xo

because Kris Jenner & I are the same age & after all "old people" should look alike! Can you believe she said that? I think I must seem ancient to her. I guess people in their fifties seemed ancient to me to at 16.....This is what I am heading towards 

And I'm never patient with the grow-out stage, so maybe I'll just get one of these & call it a day........
