I say PAINT it!

You want the tapestry to be the focal point...as is the wood takes away from the fabric!

Can't wait to see the transformation!

I say paint it....! I think people have this thing about "not painting" good wood and it kills me! Wood is only good if a. you like it and b. it matches.....Just because it's wood, does not mean it's good! Thank you for letting me get that off of my chest ;) Jen r

I would definitely paint it, it will give it that chic look without looking victorian.

Your mom...my sister...oh piffoodle, I say!
We go back and forth with this all the time...if is was a family heirloom, then I'd hesitate before painting, otherwise...PAINT AWAY!!!! I think it will look sooo dreamy and the lighter color will truly showcase that amazing pink tapestry!!!
Just my 2 cents :)

I totally understand the painting thing. I do the same!!!
Enjoy your last weekend of Summer too!
Can't wait for Fall!

Hi Chris!

Your blog looks as lovely as ever. Everything you touch turns to gold. Wish I could be as photogenic as you are! You look great and so do your friends. I say paint it too! I spent the whole summer painting my bedroom furniture from a brown to white and the same with my living room furniture too. It looks so fresh and pretty. I finally have the look I have always wanted. I bet that chair would be devine in a very light pink color paint and you can even add a tassel trim. Oh and a pretty pillow to compliment it. You are so creative that I just know that whatever you decide it will be beautiful.

I say paint it!!! I love to paint everything and painting dark wood white makes it so fresh and brings out all of the details in the wood. There are several people in my world as well who cannot believe I paint all the wood pieces that I do, but I agree with Jen R. -- wood is just wood and you need to LOVE it! I cannot wait to see the end result as I am sure it will be so beautiful with that lovely pink tapestry!

I agree, paint it. I have an antique armoire that I painted blue and then antiqued with cream over the top. It looks great. My house is blue and cream with touches of pink, a combo of Paris apt. and shabby chic. So soothing! Sandy

Your chair will be beatiful painted!!

It would be nice if you could remove the tapestry and then painting it...just so, it would be a much easier job for you to do!
Can`t wait to see the end result!

Yes! Yes! Paint it. The dark wood detracts from the lovely pale pink which I love.

I would love to see the wood a very pale pink, barely pink.
Do consider not distressing the paint job. I personally love the mix and match of distress and pristine paint job.

Just my 2cents.

Pink Slippers

I'm so lazy at times so, I don't paint as much as I would like. But I say paint it-the pink really is pretty.

I am one of these people that sometimes cringes when I see someone want to paint over an antique....however!.... in this case I say GO FOR IT!! I think it will truly bring out the color of the pink tapestry and give it some OOMPH (is that a word?).... as it gets lost with the dark wood!! Good luck girl I am with Janet on the PIA !!

Remember when you painted your expensive desk in your office? It turned out beautiful! So I say go for it, anything you paint looks perfect. ~xo
